Jiangsu Law Society held its 7th provincial congress Wednesday in Nanjing. Lou Qinjian, secretary of the CPC Provincial Committee, attended the meeting.
Wu Zhenglong, deputy secretary of the provincial party committee and governor, attended the meeting.
Zhang Sujun, deputy director of the National People's Congress Supervision and Judicial Committee, member of the Party Committee of the China Law Society, and vice president, delivered a speech.
Wang Like, member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and secretary of the Political and Legal Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, addressed the meeting.
Zhang Sujun pointed out that it is important to further strengthen and innovate ways, enhance correct political direction and adhere to the leadership of the party in the process of strengthening and innovating ways for the Law Society.
He called on legal workers to unite around the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core, follow the path of socialist rule of law with Chinese characteristics, and be the builder and defender of the socialist cause with Chinese characteristics in the new era.
Wang Like pointed out that the party’s 19th National Congress proposed to basically establish the goal of a country ruled by law, a government under the rule of law, and a society ruled by law by 2035.
The provincial party committee clearly emphasized the need to make the rule of law an important symbol of Jiangsu's core competitiveness, Wang said.
The Provincial Law Society and the legal workers must understand the mission of responsibility and use political consciousness to contribute more rule of law wisdom and the rule of law to the construction of a new Jiangsu, he added.
Zhou Jiye was elected president of the Provincial Law Society.
