Pizhou County in east China’s Jiangsu province exports 200 million US dollars worth of garlic each year, according to the 2nd International Garlic Industry Summit held last Wednesday in Zhangzhou, capital of central China’s Henan Province. Businesspersons from more than 10 countries and regions, including Egypt, Finland, and Indonesia, and those from across China attended the summit for exchanges in scientific research and trade cooperation. The Garlic New Variety Research and Development Center was unveiled at the summit. Pizhou County is known for its garlic cultivation. Planting 600,000 mu of garlic all the year round, Pizhou has contributed one-third of the province's total growing areas, with an annual output of more than 700,000 tons.
