The Belarus Research Center of Nanjing University of Science and Technology (NJUST) was launched on May 28.
The new Belarus Research Center at the NJUST is an important platform for researching politics, economy, science and technology, and education in Belarus, the first such center in Jiangsu. The two universities will cooperate to bring together research resources of two countries, including those in Jiangsu, intensify the center’s interaction with the Confucius Institute, and try to build the research center into a high-quality, open, and international platform for scientific and technological cooperation, people-to-people exchange, and cultural communication. The center is expected to contribute to the friendship between the two peoples and bilateral relations.
The NJUST and the Sukhoi State Technical University of Gomel in Belarus have a history of cooperation for nearly 20 years. Supported by the NJUST, the Confucius Institute was established at the Sukhoi State Technical University of Gomel in December 2017.
China and Belarus are strategic partners under the framework of the Belt and Road initiative. Huang Ying, a section chief from the International Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, said the ministry will further guide the center’s efforts in science and technology cooperation, promote industrial development, organize experts to conduct researches on political, economic and cultural topics of Belarus, and build the center into a high-end policy think tank.
