Construction on a dead-end highway has got underway in Wujiang district, Jiangsu province, in a bid to connect Qingpu district of Shanghai.
Kangli Avenue stretches from Fenhu Avenue in the west and reaches Donghang Road in Shanghai in the east. The 4.5-km-long highway is designed with four lanes on both directions. 2.3 km of the highway is in Wujiang.
The construction of the project will break the traffic barrier brought by the administrative division and laid a good foundation for enhancing the accessibility of the inter-provincial road network.
There are 24 dead-end highways between Suzhou and Shanghai. Promoting the "interconnection" of transportation infrastructure is an important part in the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta region.
