Jiangsu completed the annual mission for the south-to-north water transfer project this year at 2:00 am on May 28 as the last water pump in the Taierzhuang Pumping Station, located at the border between Jiangsu and Shandong provinces, ended operation.

Since 2013, Jiangsu has delivered 4.004 billion cubic meters of water in total to Shandong for six consecutive years, contributing to Shandong's ecological protection and sustainable economic and social development.

With joint efforts of the relevant departments of Jiangsu and local governments at various levels, the province has supplied 844 million cubic meters of water to Shandong as of May 28.

Data of the environmental protection department showed quality of the transferred water meets the national requirements. Jiangsu has achieved the double goals in quality and quantity for the water transfer mission.

The south-to-north water diversion project, the world's largest, takes water from the Yangtze River to feed dry areas in the north through eastern, middle and western routes.
