  On the evening of May 19, local time in Manchester, the 2019 World Taekwondo Championships successfully concluded. At the closing ceremony, Mayor of Manchester handed the flag of the World Taekwondo Championships to representatives of Wuxi, the host city of the next session, at the Manchester Arena, marking the "Wuxi Time" for the event.

  World Taekwondo Championships, held every two years and consisting of eight weight classes for men and women, is the world's largest and oldest elite taekwondo athletic competition, second only to the Olympic Games in the G12 category. Wuxi outbid three other cities to host the 2021 World Taekwondo Championships at the All-Hands Executive Committee Meeting of the World Taekwondo Federation in the United Arab Emirates, November 21, 2018.
