10.56 million railway trips are expected to be made during the upcoming Dragon Boat Festival, the railway authority said on Thursday. The number of railway trips is expected to increase by 10.5% year on year. The railway authority has announced to increase 104.5 sets of trains to cope with the rising flow of passengers that will reach the peak on June 7th with 3 million trips to be made. Passengers are advised to book their train tickets in advance at the designated app 12306 or railway ticket booths. The Dragon Boat Festival, or Duanwu Festival, is traditionally celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth month on the Chinese lunar calendar. It falls on June 7 this year. The Dragon Boat Festival is a traditional festival in China to commemorate the ancient poet Qu Yuan, who committed suicide out of love for his country.
