A high-level forum on philosophy and social sciences was held Friday morning in Nanjing. Wang Yanwen, member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Director of the Publicity Department, attended the meeting and delivered a speech.
Wang Yanwen said the important speech made by President Xi Jinping when attending the panel discussion with political advisers from the sectors of culture, art and social sciences at the annual session of the CPPCC provided a fundamental follow-up for the work of philosophy and social sciences to strive for excellence in the new era.
Wang Yanwen emphasized that the social science workers in the province should grasp the complicated and ever-changing international and domestic new environment, grasp the new characteristics of Jiangsu's development practice, gain a deeper understanding into the new mission of building a province with strong influence of social sciences, adhere to the people-centered approach, strengthen academic self-confidence, open up academic horizons, practice socialist core values, and uphold academic ethics.
Wang Zhen, deputy dean of the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, Xia Jinwen, dean of the Jiangsu Provincial Academy of Social Sciences, Liu Xingyuan, deputy director of the Jiangsu Provincial Statistics Bureau, and Hong Yinxing, senior professor of liberal arts at Nanjing University, delivered keynote speeches on the integration of the Yangtze River Delta, the Grand Canal culture, the quality of people's lives, and the modern economic system.
