For wheelchair-ridden passengers, getting on and off the subway is a hassle, especially between the train carriage and the platform. In order to solve this problem, the first batch of disability connection plates was put to use in 79 key subway stations in Nanjing.
The connecting plates are made of aluminum alloy, insulated and packed, which will not affect the safety of the subway while it is convenient to travel. Passengers who need to use can make an appointment to inform the subway authority the time to get on and off the train by calling Nanjing Metro Service Hotline "025-51899999".
The staff will place the disability connection plate at the corresponding doors of the platform according to the passenger's needs, and assist the wheelchair-ridden passengers to enter the car. The whole process can be completed in 15 seconds.
At present, the first batch of connecting plates have been placed in Xinjiekou, Xi'anmen, Drum Tower and other subway stations.
In addition to the disability connection plates, the subway company has also added vertical elevator position guidance signs and used the broadcasting system to remind passengers in need.
