The Lancang-Mekong Water Resources Cooperation Youth Forum was held in Nanjing-based Hohai University Thursday morning. Representatives from China and the five countries along the Mekong River and Lancang River discussed the "high-level talents" plan for water resources.
Information from the Department of International Cooperation and Science and Technology of the Ministry of Water Resources of China shows that in the three years since the start of the Lancang-Mekong River cooperation mechanism, China, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam have had 11 joint projects.
Since 2017, Lancang-Mekong Water Resources Cooperation high-level talent program has recruited 59 international students from the water resources departments and scientific research institutions of the five governments of the Mekong River to study for a master's degree at Hohai University in Jiangsu.
This year, the first batch of students are about to complete their studies and return to their home countries where they will be committed to the water conservancy of water resources cooperation.
