On the morning of Mar. 11, the China Athletics Association (CAA) held a press conference, releasing its annual marathon report and announced the results of its 2018 selection of label road races.
The CAA has designated 225 marathon events as its label road races, including 68 gold label races, 61 silver label races and 96 bronze label races. The 9th Suzhou Jinji Lake International Half Marathon has been awarded the Gold Label Road Race for three consecutive years. The 2018 Suzhou International Women’s Half Marathon & Queen Run • Suzhou Station has been named as the Silver Label Road Race and the 2018 Changshu International Half Marathon as the Bronze Label Road Race.
“It is a pretty complicated task to organize a marathon, which is a direct reflection of a city’s comprehensive strength.” Zhou Zhifang, director of Suzhou Sports Bureau said, adding that Suzhou will host more high-quality marathons and make continued efforts to improve public sports services, arouse people’s enthusiasm for physical exercise and build itself into a well-known international sports culture city.
