CPPCC members from Jiangsu province have played an active role over the past year by offering proposals and advice on social, economic growth.
To He Yunxiang, director of the Institute of Culture and Nature of Nanjing University, 2018 is the first year of performing his duty as a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.
From cultural scholars to members of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, in the face of the change of identity, He Yunxiang said frankly that pressure is also a driving force.
He has had a hectic schedule by doing research on the protection of historical and cultural cities, the Grand Canal cultural belt construction, bi-weekly consultation symposium.
In the past year, all seven proposals submitted by He Yunxiang were adopted by relevant departments.
He spent a month investigating eight provinces along the Grand Canal in the process of preparing proposals for the protection of intangible cultural heritage along the Grand Canal. He also set up his studio in the capacity of a CPPCC member and would solicit opinions and suggestions from the grassroots communities from time to time.
As a CPPCC member from the agricultural sector, Xu Dayong, President of the Academy of Agriculture of Lianyungang City, is heavily involved in the green agricultural development. He and his research team were spotted in various parts of the country, from Hainan to Qingdao, from the laboratory to the saline-alkali land. He believes thata CPPCC member should make extensive research and submit proposals so as to take the lead in the struggle and put into practicethe spirit of the General Secretary’s speeches.
Over the past five years, the 13th CPPCC National Committee members from Jiangsu have fulfilled the functions of political consultation and democratic supervision by participating in the deliberation and administration of state power. They have submitted a total of 120 proposals, six public opinions and 7 conference presentations that range from eco-environmental protection, education, culture and other aspects of social life.
