Lou Qinjian, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Director of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Congress, stressed that the development of the private economy is accompanied by the historical process of China's reform and opening up and an important achievement in the development of the socialist market economy. He made the remarks Tuesday during a meeting with private entrepreneurs.
The meeting was held by the provincial party committee and the provincial government to study and implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speech at an unusual meeting with private entrepreneurs at the end of last month.
The meeting was also meant to solicit opinions and suggestions from private entrepreneurs on the development of the private economy.
The private economy has made tremendous contributions to and played an important role in the province’s overall development, according to the CPC Provincial chief.
We must thoroughly study and implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speech, and implement the central decision-making and deployment, and strive to create better conditions and a relaxed environment for the development of the private economy, he said.
Lou demanded that the private entrepreneurs should bolster their confidence, ensure excellent operation of their enterprises and provide a strong support for Jiangsu's high-quality development.
Wu Zhenglong, deputy secretary of the provincial party committee and governor, presided over the forum.
President Xi Jinping sent a strong signal of maintaining supportive policies toward private businesses, including such measures as tax reductions, at the meeting with entrepreneurs late last month.
Xi was briefed by 10 entrepreneurs, mostly from small and medium-sized companies, at the Great Hall of the People. He talked with them about their difficulties and required that related government departments study how to address the problems properly.
Private businesses’ status and role in China’s economic and social development are unchanged; the Party’s policies of unswervingly encouraging, supporting and guiding the development of private businesses are unchanged; and the Party’s dedication to improving the environment and providing more opportunities for private businesses is unchanged, Xi said.
China’s private businesses can only become stronger in the process of building a moderately prosperous society in all respects, he said, and they should play on a broader stage.
He added that the strengthening of the public sector does not contradict support for the private sector.
