The 2018 Suzhou International Design Week golden autumn trade and investment promotion activities will be held from Nov. 23 to 27, according to the schedule released on Nov. 1 by Gusu District government. The Taohuawu Historical and Cultural Area (Phase II) will be opened and serve as the main venue for the design week which will feature various exchange activities with such themes as “Big Design, New Economy”. Suzhou’s sister city Venice, as the guest city of honor, will also organize a number of activities.
The design week is aimed to promote Suzhou’s image as a City of Design and a Capital of Industry and show the world a new Suzhou which becomes more international while maintaining its own characteristics. It is believed that the event will boost Suzhou’s new economy and give the public a new horizon.
A delegation of politicians, businessmen, academics and designers from Venice and the Veneto region, Italy, will come to Suzhou to visit its key innovation parks and organize thematic exchange activities. The universities of the two cities will consider mutually establishing scholarship programs for innovative design.
