East China’s Jiangsu province reported steady agricultural growth in the first three quarters of this year under the impetus of implementing the rural revitalization strategy, as is evidenced by the flourishing new industries, the stable agricultural and rural economy and the fact that the growth rate of the per capita disposable income of the rural residents was higher than that of the urban residents.
Statistics show that Jiangsu has further reduced the growing areas of low-efficiency food crops such as winter wheat and corn, and the scale of crop rotation has increased slightly. Therefore, the total output of summer grain in the province has decreased by 0.7% from a year ago. During the summer season, thanks to the promotion of excellent rice varieties, the proportion of high-quality rice area in the province has increased, the planting structure has been further optimized, and autumn grain is expected to increase yield.
At the same time, the new businesses and new modes of new agricultural industry in the province has maintained rapid growth and become the growth engine of comprehensive agricultural upgrading, especially the celebration of the first China Farmers Harvest Festival this year, which has made the new businesses and new modes develop faster to gather more energies and record higher growth rate from a year ago.
In the first three quarters, the province's online sales of agricultural products increased by 28% year on year. More than 500 new leisure agricultural park attractions have been launched to generate over 46 billion yuan of comprehensive income, an increase of 30% year on year. In addition, the agricultural product processing industry has gathered strong momentum. 736 provincial level flagship enterprises reported 580 billion yuan of sales, up 8.3% year on year and providing 6.4 million farmers with opportunities to increase their income.
Thanks to the vigorous development of new businesses and new modes, the residents in Jiangsu recorded 15797 yuan of per capita disposable income in the first three quarters, up 8.9% year on year, much higher than that of the urban residents, which has contributed to the narrowing of the income gap between urban and rural residents.
