The new project of Novelis with a total investment of $218 million and an annual output of 100,000 tons of high-end aluminum automotive sheet kicked off in Changzhou on October 10.
In recent years, Changzhou has actively seized major development opportunities such as the Yangtze River Delta City Cluster and the Sunan National Innovation Demonstration Area. As a result, the city has accelerated the construction of 10 major industrial chains such as new energy vehicles and core automotive components.
Headquartered in Atlanta, USA, Novelis manufactures high-quality aluminum and aluminum sheets for packaging, automotive, transportation, and electrical emissions. Its customers include Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Jaguar, General Motors, Ford, Peugeot, Citroen and Hyundai.
Novelis (China) Aluminum Products Co., Ltd., established in the Changzhou National Hi-Tech District in June 2012, is the first high-end aluminum automotive sheet manufacturing facility in China, with the products used in engine covers, tailgates, fenders, doors, roofs and vehicle structures and components.
Novelis decided to start a new project because of the increase in new energy vehicle orders. When the project is completed by 2020, the Novelis Changzhou plant will have a total production capacity of 220,000 tons of high-end aluminum automotive sheet.
