  Lou Qinjian, Secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, lauded China-Europe freight trains linking Jiangsu with the suburbs of Moscow in about 15 days during a roundtable meeting on regional cooperation between China and Russia on the sidelines of the fourth Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) in Vladivostok in Russia's Far East on Sept. 11.

  Meanwhile, Wu Hao, secretary general of the Federation of Overseas Chinese Associations in Russia and chairman of the Overseas Chinese Youth Association in Russia, participated in a special report by the Xinhua Daily Media Group at Vladivostok by putting the association’s emblem as well as his EEF pass into a bottle. In special news coverage, Xinhua Daily will invite Jiangsu people from all across the world to share their stories and wishes in participating the nation’s Belt and Road initiative through the form of a message in a bottle. The report will focus on China-Europe and China-Central Asia freight trains.

  European orders and Kazakhstan wheat

  “Starting in 2015, the China-Europe freight trains transport our goods at only half of the cost of sea shipping and only one-fifth of air transportation,” said Ge Sujing, head of imports and exports at Suzhou Luoji Technology Co., Ltd. headquartered in Switzerland. “The time saved can be used to boost production and the quicker flow of funds. Ge shared a product order with the special report journalist, adding the company's export products are electronic devices such as computer mouse, keyboards, speakers and game control devices, with Europe one of its key markets.

  In the office of the China-Kazakhstan Logistics Base in Lianyungang City, Gu Danfeng of the international business department for the company behind the logistics base, placed a handful of wheat imported from Kazakhstan in a bottle brought by a Xinhua Daily reporter. In the warehouse, thousands of tons of Kazakhstan wheat just brought back by returned China-Europe freight trains were waiting for to be transported to their final destination, Vung Tau port in Vietnam. It took only 9 to 10 days to complete the whole process, from the start to the end, and from customs declaration to clearance.

  Jiangsu Province has already launched a number of international freight train lines including the Lianyungang-Xinjiang-Central Asia, Nanjing-Europe, Nanjing-Central Asia, Suzhou-Manzhouli-Europe and Xuzhou-Tashkent routes. The number of freight train trips surpassed 880 in 2017, a year-on-year increase of 51.2 percent. The Lianyungang-Xinjiang-Central Asia route recorded 612 export trips with 61,200 containers in 2017, becoming one of the largest and most efficient cross-border trains in the country. The amount of transported goods through the route ranked first in China.

  China- Europe and China- Central Asia freight trains have become major trade links, promoting Made in China products in global market and bringing overseas products to thousands of Chinese households, as a powerful transportation guarantee for the “Belt and Road”.
