The 2018 Cross-Straits (Kunshan) Mid-Autumn Lantern Festival kicked off in Zhouzhuang, a renowned water town in East china's Jiangsu province, on Sept 19.
The festival, an annual event in Kunshan, a county-level city in Jiangsu which administers Zhouzhuang, aims to promote closer cultural communication and exchanges between the Chinese mainland and Taiwan.
It mainly comprises four exhibition zones, namely the Zhouzhuang Ancient Town, Zhouzhuang Taiwan Street, Qibang village in Zhouzhang as well as Huiju Plaza in the Kunshan city.
The lanterns displayed have fully absorbed the elements embedded in cross-Straits culture and folk customs, indicative of the strong ties between the mainland and Taiwan.
It is the second time for Zhouzhuang to host the grand event and is set to run until Oct 20.
