Institutional organizations in Jiangsu will widen the requirements on applicants’ majors during recruitment, according to an announcement by Jiangsu Provincial Social Welfare Bureau recently.
It the past, questions like whether applicants majoring in Civil Law can apply for jobs for Law major are often asked by both applicants and employers; and situations of candidates missing the opportunity of being hired often occur just because of a tiny difference in the majors. Sometimes, the applicants will be rejected even if his or her written examination ranks the first. In the future, those may no longer be the cases.
The Bureau said that if there is a clear inclusion relationship between the majors, the applicants can be still recruited.
The Notice requires that the recruitment department (unit) can independently choose to hire civil servants according to the provincial examination or the professional directory of the educational department, and publish it in the recruitment announcement. In the open recruitment, the qualification examination unit should accurately understand the qualification examination criteria and explain the recruitment conditions.
For new majors that are not listed in the profession reference catalogue (profession catalogue), the recruitment department (entity) may determine the examination opinions according to the actual situation, and submit them to the personnel management department of the institution for the record.
If there is a clear inclusion relationship between the name of applicants’ major and the name of the major in the recruitment requirements, the major is considered to meet the requirements in principle of leniency. A dual degree holder may apply for the job using his or her second degree.
In addition, the Notice also requires that recruitment conditions such as academic qualifications, specialization, age, work experience, etc., should not be targeted or be discriminatory. The vacant posts should be biased towards the underemployed young people such as college graduates.
