On Sep. 7, Yancheng was on the list again for its good air quality according to the report released by the Ministry of Ecological Environment on the status of air quality throughout the country in August and January-August in 2018. Yancheng ranked 10th among the 169 key cities across the country, the first city in Jiangsu province included on the list after the Ministry of Ecological Environment expanded the scope of notification.
When the Ministry of Ecological Environment ranked 74 key cities in China from January 2013 up to August 2018, Yancheng has ranked first in the province for five consecutive years. In the monthly ranking of 68 months, Yancheng ranked 10th for 8 times across the nation and No. 1 for 39 times across the province. Beginning in July 2018, the Ministry of Ecological Environment expanded the list of cities from 74 to 169 prefecture-level cities, and the ranking of cities published rose from 10 to 20. In the second month after the announcement, Yancheng's air quality hit the top 10 of the country's 169 cities. In the past August, the Air Quality Composite Index of Yancheng reached 2.62 and PM2.5 average concentrations 18 ug/m3, becoming the best month for air quality. This year, the number of days with good air quality has increased by 30 per cent over last year.
Urgently studying the Implementation Plan for the Three-year Action Plan to Win the Blue Sky and the Work for Integrated Air Pollution Control in Autumns and Winters 2018-2019, Yancheng is putting more emphasis on the synergistic control of PM2.5 and ozone pollution, on the prevention and control of source and structural adjustment, and on the refinement of management.
