The official WeChat account of the Yangzhou Museum has published a post of a series of emoticons based on Yangzhou local culture. 15 emoticons based on the historically-known eight Yangzhou Eccentrics are full of fun and Yangzhou flavor. They will sure bring a lot amusement when Yangzhou locals chat online.
15 painters, including Jin Nong, Zheng Xie, Huang Shen, Li Fangying, Wang Shishen, Luo Pin, Gao Xiang, Hua Ke, Min Zhen, Gao Fenghan, Li Mian, Chen Wen, Bian Shoumin and Yang Fa, had their expressions and stories come back to life again in this series of emoticons. Used to exist only in books and paintings, historical figures enjoy their rendezvous with this modern world.
There are specific explanations and sentences under these emoticons telling people how to make sentences with the words in Yangzhou dialect.
Working staffs in Yangzhou Museum said that the creation of the 15 characters of the emoticon pack had been basically formed years ago. "This year, we have been thinking about how to use these images and put them into Yangzhou emoticons so that they can have life again, and we’re glad we tried."
The person in charge said that after the emoticons were released, they received good feedback. “We used to have emoticons about Yangzhou dialect, now we present the emoticons of historical Yangzhou figures and they’re a lot of fun.” It is reported that the next step of the Yangzhou Museum is to further optimize the cartoon images in this series, to create more interesting products.
