A party and government delegation from east China’s Jiangsu province visited southwest China’s Guizhou Province on Monday and Tuesday.
The Jiangsu delegation is headed by Wu Zhenglong, deputy secretary of the provincial party committee and governor. The delegation visited Guizhou to study and inspect the implementation of the important instructions given by General Secretary Xi Jinping on the poverty alleviation cooperation between the east and the west and the major decision-making arrangements of the Party Central Committee and the State Council.
Discussions were carried out on cooperation in poverty alleviation and overall cooperation between the two provinces.
A symposium was held Tuesday morning in Tongren city to address the economic and social development of the two provinces and the paired assistance between Suzhou and Tongren.
Sun Zhigang, the provincial party secretary of Guizhou, Shen Yiqin, governor of Guizhou, and Wu Zhenglong addressed the symposium.
On behalf of the Guizhou Provincial Party Committee and the provincial government, Sun Zhigang extended his warm welcome to the Jiangsu delegation.
He said that under the strong leadership of the Party Central Committee, Jiangsu has vigorously promoted high-quality development and achieved remarkable results.
Jiangsu’s paired assistance with Guizhou has vigorously promoted Guizhou's poverty alleviation and economic and social development, Sun said.
The poverty alleviation cooperation between the east and the west is a major opportunity for Guizhou to win the fight against poverty, he said.
The CPC Guizhou Provincial Chief demanded that all government departments and Tongren City should work together with Jiangsu to do a good job in poverty alleviation.
Guizhou and Jiangsu have great potential for cooperation, he said, adding that Guizhou hoped to strengthen its exchanges with Jiangsu in all aspects by improving coordination mechanisms, deepening cooperation in key areas and industrial parks, and promoting mutual benefit and win-win results.
Wu Zhenglong said that in recent years, Guizhou has earnestly implemented the spirits of the Party’s 18th National Congress and the 19th National Congress, especially the important instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping so as to boost poverty alleviation through big data and big ecological strategic action plans to create the "miracle of Guizhou".
It will be very important for Guizhou to win the fight against poverty as scheduled, he said, adding that Jiangsu and Anhui have shared access to the Yangtze River water, a strong indication of deep roots and profound fate.
The Governor of Jiangsu said the paired assistance with Guizhou is the high trust placed by the central government in Jiangsu and the poverty alleviation cooperation is the unshakable political responsibility of Jiangsu.
He said Jiangsu is striving to promote poverty alleviation and cooperation, and work together to promote the high-quality development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt, promote two-way cooperation, achieve mutual benefit and win-win results, and strive to promote the cooperation between Jiangsu and Guizhou in the new era.
Shen Yiqin, governor of Guizhou, said that Guizhou hopes to deepen its cooperation with Jiangsu in various fields by introducing enterprises for industrial growth, sell agricultural products to enrich farmers, boost tourism to develop its economy, develop human resources for quality growth so as to ensure that the fight against poverty will be won on time.
Cooperative agreements were signed between the provincial governments of Guizhou and Jiangsu, 27 governmental departments and enterprises.
