East China’s Jiangsu province has implemented preferential policies on pre-tax deduction of research and development expenses for small and medium-sized enterprises of science and technology in a bid to increase the precision support for small and medium-sized enterprises. Up to now, the province has registered a total of 12,859 technology-based SMEs, accounting for 11.4% of the country’s total and ranking second in the country. 10,750 companies included in the list have enjoyed 75% of research and development expenses plus pre-tax deductions with the policy benefits reaching out to 84% of the total SMEs in the province. The research and development expenses plus deductions reached 18.8 billion yuan, effectively promoting the province's vast amount of resources and increasing the innovation vitality of technology-based SMEs.
