  Governor Wu Zhenglong met with John McCallum, the Canadian Ambassador to China Friday in Nanjing.

  Wu Zhenglong extended his warm welcome to McCallum’s visit to Jiangsu before briefing the Canadian guests on the economic and social development of Jiangsu.

  Over the past decades, Jiangsu and Canada have achieved fruitful cooperation by consolidating its traditional friendship with the Province of Ontario and expanding the friendly exchanges with the western provinces of Canada to come up with broader prospects of cooperation, the governor said.

  We will create better environmentfor the close cooperation between enterprises and personnel in Jiangsu and Canada, Wu said.

  Wu Zhenglong hoped that the two sides will jointly implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, strengthen all-round cooperation in the areas of "One Belt and One Road" construction, scientific and technological innovation, education and culture, economy, trade and tourism so as to complement each other and achieve mutual benefit and win-win, make greater contribution to the strategic partnership between China and Canada and benefit the people on both sides.

  McCallum said that the Chinese and Canadian people have a profound traditional friendship.

  He hoped that this visit will be an opportunity to play a good role as a bridge, deepen cooperation in more fields such as economy, trade and tourism, further deepen friendship, and promote exchanges and cooperation between the two sides to a higher level.
