Chinas courier service registered 4.07 billion pieces of delivery in July, up 27% year on year, according to the China Express Development Index Report for July 2018 released by the State Post Bureau on Saturday.

According to the data, courier service in China registered 4.07 billion pieces of delivery in July, up 27% year on year. The estimated revenue of the express delivery industry is expected to hit 48.1 billion yuan, up 22.8% year-on-year.

There were three reasons for the slight increase in the growth rate of express delivery business in July. First, the business volume was small in the same period last year. Second, a large number of seasonal agricultural products were marketed. Third, the emerging e-commerce boomed, boosting the growth of express delivery business.

The report also shows that the booming courier service helped to generate 550 billion yuan of online retails, a gain of 150 billion yuan from a year ago.

The revenue of the courier service contributed 0.62% to the countrys total GDP, up 0.7 pct from a year ago.

90% of the townships in the country have been accessible to courier service with 48000 outlets installed in the rural areas across the country, according to the report.

The standardization of service has continued to improve, and the standardization rate of urban outlets has steadily increased, the report shows.

The countrys courier service is expected to handle 4.2 billion pieces of delivery in August, up 29% year on year.
