Wu Zhenglong, Governor of Jiangsu, went on an inspection tour last Thursday and Friday to some foreign trade firms in Changshu, Taicang and Kunshan, urging them to act in accordance with General Secretary Xi Jinping’s new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics and the work arrangements of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, further strengthen the confidence, work hard for promoting innovation and expanding opening up for the sustained, stable, and high-quality development of the foreign trade sector.
When visiting Sino-German (Taicang) Innovation Cooperation Park, Trumpf, Schaeffler and United Automotive Electronics, Wu Zhenglong learned about technological innovation, product performance, market and some other issues that concern the high-quality development of the foreign trade sector.
Wu noted that Jiangsu has a good development environment, a good industrial base and abundant human resources, hoping that more foreign companies including German-invested enterprises will invest in Jiangsu and take root in Jiangsu to create greater glory.
When visiting the Sino-German dual system training center, the Governor gave the thumbs-up to the enterprise-oriented training model and encouraged them to make persistent efforts to train more highly skilled personnel.
During his visit to Chery Jaguar Land Rover, Toyota R&D Center, KONE Elevator, Shengwang Parts and Nike, Wu pledged that Jiangsu will strengthen the protection of intellectual property rights and create better conditions for these firms to make more multi-project investment and apply more innovative results in Jiangsu.
When visiting the Great Wall Bearing Company, Wu Zhenglong said that in the face of challenges, enterprises must strengthen independent innovation, reduce costs and increase efficiency, and constantly open up new markets and new space.
Governor Wu also presided over a symposium to exchange ideas with some senior corporate executives and leading officials from Suzhou, Wuxi and Changzhou.
He pointed out that since the beginning of this year, the province's economic and social development has been generally stable with its high-quality development posting good momentum.
Wu noted that in the face of steadily changing economic operation, new problems and new situations, the province will profoundly understand and accurately grasp the situation under the strong leadership of the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core, establish a bottom line thinking, maintain strategic strength, and strive to ensure the steady growth of foreign capital and foreign trade as expected.
Wu Zhenglong also urged the enterprises to adhere to the principle of innovation being the primary driving force, master the core technology of independent and controllable, and promote the industry towards the high end of the global value chain, increase the intensity of technological transformation for cost reduction, participate in the construction of the Belt and Road scheme, open up diversified market, cultivate advanced industrial clusters and improve overall competitiveness.
The Governor remarked that this year marks the 40th anniversary of reform and opening up, adding that the best commemoration of reform and opening up is to comprehensively deepen reform and expand opening up, further strengthen the confidence in development, give full play to the role of the government and enterprises, and work together to promote the high-quality development of foreign trade and economic cooperation.
