On July 27th, the World Fencing Championships entered the last day of competitions. Chinese Men’s Foil and Chinese Women’s Sabre beat their components during the group competitions on the 26th after gaining slight advantages. On the 27th, these two groups challenged the Strong Four again.
In the Women's Sabre group competition, China's opponent was the strong French team. Thus, during the process of the game, the Chinese team was in the position of catching the score. Although Chinese players fought very hard, with the score sometimes got even with or greater than the French team, yet ultimately the Chinese team ended the World Championships with 3 points behind. The strength of Women's Sabre has been affirmed by everyone, with their fighting spirit receiving praise. Also, in the next Men's Foil group competition, the Chinese team's opponent was the world's No.1 US team. During the game, the US team showed us the strength as the first in the world and finally defeated China's Men's Foil team with a score of 45:19.
Up to today, the World Championships has ended all the events. The Chinese team won a bronze medal in the Women's Epee competition, which is the only medal China won. Although China’s performance is not ideal, we have expressed understanding and support, expecting it to continue surpassing itself and achieving good results in future competitions. As you can tell, the Chinese Fencing Team is in a succession moment and the experience from competitions will be the best for young players.
