The Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee held a meeting on Thursday to analyze the current economic situation and study the next stage of economic work. Provincial Party Secretary Lou Qinjian presided over the meeting.

We will implement the major strategic decision-making arrangements, unswervingly promote industrial transformation and upgrading, accelerate the transformation of development kinetic energy, and strive to lay a solid foundation for the "three major battles", solidly promote the construction of major projects, greater openness and higher quality, and the opening up to ensure that the province’s high quality development is ranked at the forefront of the country, according to the statement.
It is necessary to focus on researching and solving outstanding problems and focus on maintaining stable and healthy economic development, pay close attention to the trade friction between China and the United States, maintain confidence and strength, analyze the impacts, and formulate targeted policies and plans, the statement said.
Jiangsu will attach great importance to the problem of insufficient investment in effective investment, infrastructure construction and modern services for industrial development, the statement said, adding that greater investment is to be made in industry, infrastructure construction in northern Jiangsu, education, medical care, and other major areas of people's livelihood so as to constantly stimulate new kinetic energy.
The meeting also urged for great importance to be attached to breaking through the "bottleneck" of scientific and technological innovation, focusing on building a self-controllable modern industrial system, breaking through the core technologies and key components that pinch the neck, increasing investment in science and technology, optimizing the ecological innovation, strengthening the supervision on the follow-ups of environmental protection so as to ensure that the standard will be met and the strength will not be reduced by adhering to the rule of law through multi-pronged approaches incorporating the market, technology and equipment with the pollution prevention and control to be persevered.
It is necessary to systematically advance various tasks and ensure that the tasks identified at the beginning of the year are implemented by enhancing the pertinence of work initiatives, and identifying the focus of the work in the next stage, according to the statement.

The participants were also briefed on the safety production situation of the province and discussed the "Implementation Rules" for the safety production responsibility system of party and government leading officials.

It was stated that the province has entered the hottest days of the year and the rainy season, which has posed threat to safe production. It was also decided at the meeting that the fourth plenary meeting of the 13th Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China will be held in Nanjing from July 23 to 24.
