Governor Wu Zhenglong met with Yang Chuantang, vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and secretary of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Transport.
Yang Chuantang gave thumbs up to the achievements made by Jiangsu in its development of transportation industry.
He pointed out that the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Government have studied and implemented the Xi Jinping Thought on socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era and the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China by deepening their understanding of the development of the transportation industry, achieving remarkable results and ensuring its forefront ranking in the country so as to become a vivid epitome of the rapid development of the national transportation industry.
The 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China made a strategic plan for building China into a country with a powerful transportation network, Yang said, adding that it is the historical mission and responsibility entrusted by the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core in the new era.
He said at present, China's transportation industry is standing at a golden stage for higher level of network formation, service level improvement and transformation-oriented development, adding that the Ministry of Transport is in the process of implementing the central government’s decision-making deployment, strengthening top-level design, clarifying objectives and tasks and refining work initiatives.
The CPPCC vice chairman said the Yangtze River Delta urban clusters play a pivotal strategic role in the overall situation of national modernization, and will promote the integration of transportation planning and infrastructure in the region so as to promote higher-quality integrated development in the Yangtze River Delta region with higher level of transportation integration.
Jiangsu has strong comprehensive strength and good development prospects while also enjoys its advantageous position of being at the intersection of the Belt and Road program and the Yangtze River Economic Belt, Yang said, adding that the province has the conditions and foundation for piloting and demonstrating in the construction of a strong transportation country.
He hoped that Jiangsu will seize the opportunities and race against time to actively explore and practice, accelerate the construction of a modern integrated transportation system, and set a model for the country with its rich experiences.
The Ministry of Transport will continue to support the development of Jiangsu and provide stronger support for the construction of a new Jiangsu, said Yangd.
On behalf of the provincial party committee and the provincial government, Wu Zhenglong welcomed Yang Chuantang for his visit to the province. He thanked the Ministry of Transport for its concern and support for Jiangsu's development and conveyed the greetings from the provincial party secretary Lou Qinjian.
Governor Wu said Jiangsu will seize the major strategic opportunities such as the construction of the Belt and Road, the Yangtze River Economic Belt, and the higher quality integration of the Yangtze River Delta, and accelerate the construction of infrastructure such as high-speed rail, expressway, rural highways, cross-river channels, aviation, water transportation, so as to come up with a modern integrated transportation system to provide strong support for the province’s high-quality development.
He hoped that the Ministry of Transport will continue to show care for Jiangsu's development and help Jiangsu to take on more missions and play a greater role in building China into a country with powerful transportation networks.
