The first high-speed railway in the north of Jiangsu Province, which is a joint venture between the railway head office and the province, has been basically completed. It has passed the static acceptance and will soon start the joint debugging test to ensure the operation before the end of the year.
The Lianyungang-Yancheng Railway, an important part of China's coastal railway arteries, has a total length of 234 kilometers and is a passenger-cargo mixed-line two-line electrified railway with a designed speed of 200 kilometers per hour.
The railway costs 27.173 billion yuan of total investment. Construction started in December 2013, and it is planned to open on November 15 this year.
11 stations are built along the railway with railway stations built for the first time in Ganyu, Xiangshui, Binhai and Sheyang.
The Lianyungang station is renovated from the existing station with an expansion of 20,000 square meters.
The Qingdao-Lianyungang Railway will be opened simultaneously with the Lianyungang-Yancheng Railway, thus opening up the route to the north of the coastal line. The railway linking up Yancheng and Shanghai via Nantong is also under construction, which is expected to add the final touch to the completion of China's coastal railway artery from the north to the south.
