The event “Foreigner’s view of Jiangsu,” organized by the Press Office of Jiangsu Provincial People’s Government, landed in Hailing District, Taizhou City from July 7 to 8. More than 20 foreign friends from over 10 countries, including the United States, Russia, Turkey and Uzbekistan, had a close contact with the district’s cultural charms in the journey.
At the first stop, Taizhou Mei Lanfang Memorial Hall, dedicated to one of the most famous Peking Opera artists in modern Chinese theater, many foreigners said that this was their first time to get close to Chinese traditional opera culture. After watching the performance, some foreigners also put on Peking Opera costumes and learned about the stage show.
At Taizhou Imperial Examinations Museum, the foreign visitors learned about the site used to hold Keju, a kind of civil service examination system in imperial China to select candidates for the state bureaucracy.
Then on the morning of July 8, they visited the city’s Taishan Park to have a better understanding about the intangible cultural heritages, such as diabolo, dough figurine, and kite production.
