The Zhenjiang Municipal Government, Magna Steyr, and Beijing Automotive Group Co. Ltd. signed a tripartite cooperation agreement Tuesday in Nanjing for the launch of a high-end intelligent pure electric vehicle project. Governor Wu Zhenglong attended the signing ceremony and met with Don Walker, President of Magna Group, and Xu Heyi, Chairman of BAIC Group.
Wu Zhenglong said during the meeting that he believes the high-end intelligent pure electric vehicle project will surely be able to ride the wind, break the waves and be successful, adding that automobile is a strategic pillar industry in Jiangsu and new energy vehicle is an important starting point for the province to boot the development in the related industries.
The cooperation between Magna Group and Beijing Automotive Group, both Fortune 500 companies, to build a high-end intelligent pure electric vehicle project in Zhenjiang with an innovative cooperation model has reflected the entrepreneurial strategy and global vision which will help Jiangsu cultivate an advanced manufacturing cluster with international competitiveness and promote the building of a manufacturing powerhouse, the governor said.
He hoped that Magna Group and Beijing Automotive Group will exert their respective advantages and work together to promote the completion of the project as soon as possible and the province will further optimize the business environment, promote green and low-carbon lifestyles, and fully support the project construction and business growth.
Don Walker and Xu Heyi said that they will integrate with Jiangsu's development strategy, plan all kinds of high-quality resources, promote project construction from a high starting point and high standards, accelerate the establishment of a full-scale industrial chain for new energy vehicles, and promote the high-quality development of Jiangsu's manufacturing industry.
According to the cooperation agreement, Magna Group and BAIC Group will invest on the country’s first intelligent multi-customer intelligent pure electric vehicle manufacturing joint venture in Zhenjiang, which will effectively promote the development and high-end development of the province's new energy auto industry cluster.
