Lou Qinjian, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, went on an inspection tour Thursday to news media outlets in Jiangsu to extend his gratitude to them for their long-term support to Jiangsu’s development and encourage them to help promote the province’s high quality development by telling good stories.
Lou visited the Jiangsu Branch of the People's Daily where he watched the photos marking the 70th anniversary of the establishment of People's Daily. He also listened to news briefings by the Jiangsu Branch and thanked the branch for its strong support for the provincial government of Jiangsu.
When visiting js.people.com.cn, Lou Qinjian learned about the column settings, operating models and readers’ clicks of the news portal website. He hoped that the branch website of people.com.cn will give full play to its advantages of being a large platform and build a bridge between local party committees and governments and readers.
During his visit to Xinhua News Agency Jiangsu Branch, Lou inspected the editing room, the general duty room, and the media center where he shook hands with the editors and reporters and thanked everyone for their meticulous coverage of Jiangsu's major development initiatives and grassroots innovation practices. He hoped that everyone would, as always, focus their attention on all aspects of Jiangsu's work in promoting high-quality development, use original insights to summarize grass-roots innovations and make suggestions so as to help government departments to break the inherent mode of thinking and further emancipate their mind and improve their work.
The CPC Provincial secretary presided over a symposium to solicit opinions from the news staff on the measures for the province’s high quality development.
Lou spoke highly of the fruitful work the news media outlets have done for the publicity of Jiangsu’s work.
He hoped that the traditional mainstream media and new media must always adhere to the correct political direction, unswervingly safeguard the CPC Central Committee’s leadership with General Secretary Xi Jinping as the core, uphold the centralized and unified authority of the Party Central Committee and spread positive energy.
Lou demanded that the news media outlets should give full play to their unique advantages, continue to fuel their efforts, enhance publicity for the province’s reform and development, and create a positive and progressive atmosphere for development.
He also hoped that the news media outlets will fulfill their social responsibilities, strengthen systematic thinking and logical thinking for problem solving, mobilize all positive factors for the development of high quality in Jiangsu, and build an efficient driving mechanism.
It is necessary to strengthen cultural self-confidence and stress the story of Jiangsu, Lou said, adding that based on the profound cultural heritage of Jiangsu, we must actively create a cultural identity with the characteristics of the times, especially the construction of the Grand Canal Cultural Belt and the Belt and Road development in Jiangsu so as to stimulate the enthusiasm and creativity of the cadres and people, objectively reflect social conditions and public opinions, strengthen public opinion supervision and work together to promote high-quality development.
