Organized by UNESCO, the Publicity Department of the Jiangsu Provincial Committee and the Nanjing Municipal People's Government, the 2018 World Historic & Cultural Cities Expo was officially closed Monday night.
Wang Yanwen, member of the Standing Committee of Jiangsu Provincial Committee and director of Publicity Department, and Lan Shaomin, Mayor of Nanjing, attended the closing ceremony.
The 2018 World Historic & Cultural Cities Expo was an implementation of the Xi Jinping Thought on socialism with Chinese characteristics and the Belt and Road Initiative. With the theme of “Mutual Learning, Sharing and Mutual Benefit”, the Expo featured the “Belt & Road Cultural and Urban Sustainable Development Forum” and the Activities on “Musuem”, “Literary Publishing”, “Intangible Cultural Heritages Innovation” and “Urban Heritage” as the main bodies. Nearly 100 events were held, such as theme forums, cultural exhibitions, cultural performances and sporting events during the Expo.The numbers of the cities participated in the Expo, the number of guests and the scale of the activities have all reached the record high.

The Belt & Road Cultural and Urban Sustainable Development Forum
Representatives of UNESCO, heads of relevant departments, representatives of cities at home and abroad and experts discussed ways to promote the sustainable development of civilization and achieve win-win situations.

The curators and experts at home and abroad have fully communicated the history of museums, the functions of museums in the new era and the future development trend, and set up a platform for cooperation between Chinese and foreign museums.
At the forum of "Literary Publishing", young writers from countries along the "Belt and Road" route have engaged in dialogue around the themes of literature, creativity, heritage, etc. This has brought together the wisdom and enthusiasm of young people in different parts of the world for the sustainable development of cities.

Intangible cultural heritages inheritors, businessmen, experts and scholars talked about the practice of activating heritage resources, helping contemporary design, and integrating into modern life.

Experts and scholars discussed the protection and utilization of the ancient city wall and the sustainable development of cities. They shared and drew lessons from the successful experience of the protection of the cultural heritage through fieldwork and interaction, and further promoted the work of the application for the World Heritage of the ancient city walls of the Ming and Qing dynasties.
The National Museum of China, the Jiangsu Provincial Cultural Department and the City of Nanjing reached a strategic cooperation on building the International School for Art Museology during the Expo. The "Belt and Road" International Literary Forum was settled in Nanjing. And Nanjing Gold Foil Research Center, Intangible cultural heritages Hotel were also settled.
At the closing ceremony, the great musical epic called Jinling Symphony, which was written for the Expo, was performed. The five chapters of the symphony showed the magnificent style of the Nanjing, the ancient capital of six dynasties to the city mayors from all over the world, guests at home and abroad.
