Mucha-Treasure of Art Nouveau lands in Nanjing

  The works of Alphonse Mucha are meeting Nanjing people from May 18 to Aug 28 in Nanjing Museum. Alphonse Mucha, known best for his distinct style, was a Art Nouveau painter and decorative artist who produced many paintings, illustrations, advertisements, postcards, and designs.

  Mucha moved to Paris in 1887, and continued his studies. In addition to his studies, he worked at producing magazine and advertising illustrations. Later, Mucha produced the poster for the play Gismonda, winning overnight success and being described as “the World’s Greatest Decorative Artist” by the New York Daily News.

Iconic paintings of Mucha

  Jointly hosted by the Nanjing Museum and the National Museum of Arts and Crafts in Prague, Czech Republic, and the Prague City Museum of Art in the Czech Republic, this exhibition is organized to demonstrate the life changes and artistic development of Mucha, and to present an incomparable visual feast for the audience.

  The first part of the exhibition is called "Poster Art ", which shows the poster darlings of Paris, the Mucha style at the turn of the century, and the poster design of patriotism. The second part is "The Religious Feelings", which narrates the enlightening "Lord's Prayer", the artistic monument in Prague Citizen's Union Hall and the grand view of the Slavic Festival respectively.

A series of cultural products are promoted.

  The exhibition also includes a number of cultural products of Mucha art. Handbooks, eye-catching mobile phone cases and exquisitely packaged Flower Tea, are all worthwhile to try.
