Lou Qinjian, secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, urged to highlight moral character and family culture when paying a visit to national moral models and civilized families during his inspection tour in Lianyungang city and Nantong city.
Lou stressed the need to vigorously promote the moral deeds and deeds of civilized families and give full play to advanced exemplary roles in carrying forward the good moral character in the whole society, inheriting a good family culture, spreading positive energy and providing a steady stream of spiritual motivation and moral nourishment for the construction of new Jiangsu.
Fang Jing, 87, is a national moral model. As a university teacher born in Shanghai and native of Ganyu in Lianyungang, he returned to a small fishing village in Ganyu after his retirement from East China Normal University to help out needy students in his ancestral hometown.
Over the years he made every effort to set up a "Jingqing scholarship" which has funded 260 needy students in their pursuit of higher education. Songzhuang town where he lives has been awarded the title of role model town at the provincial level.
When reaching Fang Jing's simple residence, Lou Qinjian spoke highly of his exemplary behavior of returning home to be dedicated to the promotion of education for 26 years. He also extended his gratitude to Professor Fang on behalf of the provincial CPC committee and the provincial government while insisting that he take good care of himself and wished him a good health and longevity.
The power of the spirit is endless, and moral models play an important exemplary lead role for the whole society, especially for the healthy growth of the young people, Lou said, adding that we must continue to publicize the good deeds of the moral models, carry forward the traditional virtues of the Chinese nation, and bring the core values of socialism to full play.
Moral models should be given more care and concern by highlighting their noble social status in the whole community, Lou said.
When visiting the household of a civilized family in Yancheng city, Lou Qinjian extended his holiday greetings to the family members.
Lou said to Tang Jian, the owner of the family, that they have contributed to the family civilization campaign by participating in all kinds of social welfare activities and setting an exemplary model for all the others to follow.
Lou Qinjian pointed out that family is the first school in life and an important place to inherit the traditional virtues of the Chinese nation.
The CPC Provincial chief called on the Party committees and governments at all levels to study and implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important instructions on family-oriented, tutoring and home-mindedness so as to understand the importance of family civilization campaign and make the family an important basis for national development, national progress and social harmony.
