Lou Qinjian, secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, urged Lianyungang to boost high quality development by taking advantage of the country’s Belt and Road initiative during an inspection tour in the port city Monday through Tuesday.
Lou emphasized that Lianyungang must fully implement the spirit of the 19th CPC National Congress, keep in mind the instructions given by General Secretary Xi Jinping, guide the work in accordance with the series of important instructions made by the General Secretary, and seize the major opportunity of its location at the meeting point of the Belt and Road initiative.
Lianyungang is distinguished with its pharmaceutical industry. Lou Qinjian learned about the innovative system of Hengrui Medicine Co. Ltd from its new drug development to clinical research, and talked over the video with the R & D personnel, encouraging them to focus on the forefront of international innovation and increase R & D efforts.
Petrochemical industry is the focus of the development of Lianyungang. Lou Qinjian visited Xuwei New District and Si’erbang Petrochemical Company where he was briefed on the development of petrochemical industry cluster and the problems that are encountered by business owners throughout the course of managing their business, stressing that in the course of industrial development we should attach great importance to ecological protection, environmental improvement and work safety.
When visiting Zhongfu Shenying Carbon Fiber Co. Ltd and the Chinese Academy of Sciences Energy Power Research Center, Lou Qianjian encourages them to give full play to the scientific research advantages and the role of major scientific and technological infrastructures by focusing on technological integration and further extension of the industrial chain.
The Provincial CPC chief also visited the Information Command Center of China-Kazakhstan Lianyungang Logistics Base to learn more about the international multimodal transport and other international freight transport business development, emphasizing the need to rely on the base to speed up the construction of integrated transport, logistics and distribution system to further promote the formation of two-way opening between the country’s East and West.
At the SCO Lianyungang International Logistics Park, Lou Qinjian pointed out after gaining in-depth understanding of the planning and construction of the logistics park that the park authority should pay close attention to the situation both at home and abroad, clearly define its development orientation, enhance its research capabilities and give full play to deepening the joint development of international multimodal transport of land and sea and expand the two-way opening.
After listening to the report of work in Lianyungang, Lou said that Lianyungang, as the first batch of coastal port cities opening to the outside world, enjoys unique location and strategic position, which has great potential for development.
Lou said General Secretary Xi Jinping is very concerned about the development of Lianyungang, adding that we must keep firmly in mind the general secretary's entrustment, act in accordance with the Xi Jinping Thought on socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era, follow the spirit of a series of important instructions made by the General Secretary and implement the work arrangement made by the 13th plenary session of the Provincial Party Committee for the promotion of high-quality development, in particular its supporting role in the "Belt and Road" initiative.
The CPC provincial chief pointed out that Lianyungang should make full use of its strategic pivot role in the Belt and Road initiative and serve the overall opening-up strategy of the Central Government by bringing into full play its role of being the junction of the Belt and Road, promote the long-term construction of infrastructures and public services such as high-speed rail, airports, ports and networks in terms of the flow of people, logistics, capital and information.
It is important for Lianyungang to step up industrial development, intensify efforts to eliminate backward production capacity and pollution projects, develop new industries such as medicine, new materials, tourism and logistics, extend the industrial chain around leading industries, promote industrial agglomeration, attract talented people and highlight the seaport culture and coastal city features, said Lou Qinjian.
Lou stressed the importance of poverty alleviation and its role in rural rejuvenation and farmers’ income growth by speeding up the development of modern agriculture and the new urbanization drive for the accelerated development while keeping the bottom line of stability, security, ecology and clean government.
The CPC Provincial chief concluded his speech by pointing out that promoting the development of Lianyungang at a high level is of great importance to the overall development of the province, and it can be related to the historical process of building a well-off society at a high level and in particular the role of being the junction of the Belt and Road initiative.
