The Standing Committee of the 13th Provincial People’s Congress held its first meeting of chairpersons Wednesday morning to determine the agenda of its first meeting.
Lou Qinjian, Provincial CPC Secretary and chairman of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Congress, presided over the meeting and delivered a speech.
Lou expressed his gratitude to the trust and expectation placed on him, the vice chairpersons and the secretary general by the Party, the delegates and the people of Jiangsu.
The work of the Standing Committee of the 12th PPC made remarkable achievements and important contributions to the overall situation of the province's reform and development in the past five years, which has been fully affirmed by the deputies at the just-concluded annual session, said Lou.
At present, Jiangsu is at a critical period of building a well-off society in an all-round way and in a new course of building a comprehensive system of socialist modernization, the CPC Provincial Chief said, adding that at such a time, we took over the baton of the work of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Congress which means a heavy responsibility for us all.
On the basis of the work of the Standing Committees of the previous Provincial People's Congresses, we must continue our work in the future and continue our efforts to faithfully fulfill all the duties entrusted by the Constitution and laws, and strive to create a new situation in the work of the legislative bodies, said Lou.
The newly-elected head of the provincial legislature said to do a good job in the new session of the provincial people's congress and promote the development of the province's legislatures the new era, the key rests with the leading party group and the chairpersons.
We must transform the trust placed on us by the Party and the people into an inexhaustible motive force for doing a good job in the work of the people's congresses and turn them into the unswerving pursuit of high-quality promotion of democracy and the rule of law in Jiangsu, the CPC provincial chief said.
We should never forget where we get started and out missions will be accomplished, work diligently and faithfully, be loyal and clean, take the initiative and strive to build the provincial people's congress leadership into a strong leadership with strong conviction, faithfulness, good style and unity and harmony, Lou said.
