China’s first new catalyst production line was put into production Tuesday morning in Zhangjiagang, a small city in the east of Jiangsu province. The new catalyst production line is invested by Honeywell, a Fortune 500 company for the manufacturing of proprietary catalyst in the production of coal-made plastics. Compared with the previous process, the technology boasts its ability to extract from coal or natural gas plastic resins and fibers required for the production of the olefin. At present, worldwide demand for ethylene and propylene is growing at a rate of 4% to 5% a year. Since last year, a series of innovative platforms have been put into operation in Zhangjiagang. The city’s output value from the new and high-tech industry accounted for 22.5% of the entire industrial output value with 63.2% of the output value contributed by scientific and technological progress.
