Yancheng – Nantong high speed rail started construction on Jan. 16.
With a total length of 156.6 kilometers, the rail line will connect the cities and districts of Dafeng, Dongtai, Haian and Rugao, etc.
When completed, it will be connected to Xuzhou-Suqian-Huaian-Yancheng line and Shanghai-Nantong line, and will become an important distributary branch of Beijing-Shanghai high speed rail. By then, it will take only an hour from Yancheng to Shanghai.
As an indispensable part of China’s coastal development plan, Yancheng – Nantong high speed rail will compliment to the railway map of China’s eastern coastal area, and help accelerate Jiangsu’s coastal area integrating into the Yangtze River Delta.
According to Jiangsu’s railway construction layout, three other projects are to begin construction.
By the end of 2017, the total rail mileage in Jiangsu reached 2,791 kilometers, in which high speed rail takes up 846 kilometers.
