The Jiangbei New Area in Nanjing should adhere to the Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era as the guideline and act in accordance with the important instructions made by General Secretary Xi Jinping on the work of Jiangsu to further emancipate the mind, broaden their horizons, seize the opportunities so as to make the new area an important engine behind the growth momentum of the Yangtze River Economic Belt and back up the high quality development of the province. The remarks were made by Lou Qinjian, secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee.
In the first leg of the inspection tour, Lou Qinjian arrived at the Wentao Square to learn about the construction of riverside scenery belt, the urban planning of the new area, industrial agglomeration, infrastructure construction and urban construction of the central district.
When visiting Jiangsu Membrane Science and Technology Industrial Park, Lou was briefed on the business incubation there, hoping that the industrial park will boost its cooperation with Nanjing University of Technology to promote the integration of the University’s scientific research resources with new area through the cooperation in key laboratories, science and engineering centers so as to accelerate the expansion of industrial scale and strength.
Lou also visited TSMC Nanjing Co., Ltd., to make inquiry into the construction of TSMC Nanjing Project. He showed satisfaction with the smooth progress of the TSMC project and the scheduled mass production upon its operation within the year, pledging that the provincial CPC committee and the provincial government will support the development of TSMC and hoping that that TSMC will give full play to its own advantages to play a greater role in the development of the semiconductor industry in Nanjing.
The CPC chief also gained a deep understanding of the progress of the construction on the 5th Yangtze River Bridge, demanding that the construction should measure up to the tasks efficiently so as to lay a solid foundation for the accelerated development of the new area.
The State Council gave the green light to Jiangsu provincial government’s application to establish the Jiangbei new area in Nanjing on July 2 2015.
The area, covering 788 square kilometers, is located in the north of the Yangtze River in Nanjing, Jiangsu province, and includes the districts of Pukou, Liuhe and Baguazhou street of Qixia district. It is the cross point of the Yangtze River economic zone and the eastern coastal economic zone.
The Jiangbei area is expected to drive the modernization of southern Jiangsu and the economic development of the Yangtze River economic zone.
The establishment of the area should be in accordance with the overall planning of the Yangtze River economic zone and the Belt and Road Initiative, and coordinate with the development of the Shanghai Pudong new district, Zhoushan city and the China Shanghai free trade zone with a greater emphasis on innovation.
