The county level city of Taixing in Jiangsu province has strived to phase out obsolete production capacity and boost the transformation and upgrading of the chemical industry through better regulatory measures.
Jiangsu Zhongdan Group Company, a chemical plant with an annual output of 25,000 tons of nitrobenzene ether, was found to be substandard in its waste gas emission years ago.
By relocating into the economic development zone, the chemical plant has stepped up its efforts for the elimination of outdated production capacity and upgrading of the facilities for the discharge of waste gases. The company has therefore measured up to the environmental protection assessment and reduced the cost of production.
In the recent years, authorities in Taixing have made it a demanding task to phase out obsolete production capacity by shutting some polluting enterprises and relocating some others. Efforts have also been made to boost transformation and upgrading.
40 chemical plants have been shut down and 5 others have been relocated to reshuffling while 90% of the chemical plants have settled down in the chemical industry park. 45% of the chemical plants have ensured the refinement production process.
