Lou Qinjian, secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, met Thursday in Nanjing with Mr. Yok Mu-ming, a Taiwanese politician and chairman of the New Party.

Lou extended his warm welcome and sincere gratitude to Mr. Yok for his visit to Jiangsu and the participation in the 4th National Memorial Day ceremony for the Nanjing Massacre victims.

We mourn the innocent victims of the Nanjing Massacre with a view to remembering history and not forgetting the past so as to inspire a new era of Chinese people to unite together for the creation of a better future, Lou said.

As long as the Chinese people unite together to make concerted efforts, the Chinese dream of a great rejuvenation will be materialized, the CPC secretary said.

Lou Qijian noted that since the reform and opening up, Jiangsu has forged close ties with Taiwan in economic and trade exchange and cooperation over a wide field of sectors, as is evidenced by growth momentum of the Taiwanese-funded enterprises in Jiangsu.

He pledged that authorities in Jiangsu will step up their efforts for the promotion of services by sticking to the principle that people across the Taiwan Straits are of the same flesh and blood so as to make greater contributions for the deepening of the cross-strait exchange and cooperation.

Mr. Yok said he had a solemn feeling when participating in the 4th National Memorial Day ceremony for the Nanjing Massacre victims.

He said the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation will certainly give the people on both sides the hope for a bright future.

He also expressed the hope that the Taiwanese authorities would like to further promote the cross-strait exchanges and economic and trade cooperation between Jiangsu and Taiwan and contribute to the peaceful development of both sides.
