The first thing I got to work yesterday morning, my boss told me secretly and mysteriously “Why don’t you go to Yangcheng Lake Peninsula and shoot some pictures? I heard it’s terribly beautiful there.” I got excited immediately and set off on the trip to Yangcheng Lake Peninsula. As someone who’s very familiar with Suzhou, I’m determined to detect every bit of charm of Suzhou.
I was amazed when I stepped on Shuize Road. Plane-trees on both sides of the road, yellow in color, brought people warmth and warded off the wind.
Under the bridge, the ground was blanketed with fallen leaves. I pictured the image of a young lady having a handful of leaves and letting them slip through her fingers slowly. Wouldn’t it be beautiful and romantic?
It‘s said that Yangcheng Lake hasn’t been like this for a long time and it was transformed from a plain. From the relics excavated here, we can tell that our ancestors were able to farm and weave some 6,000 years ago. Centuries passed by and this plain changed into a lake, and now it has become a tourist resort. In this resort, people could feast on crabs in autumn, relish sceneries all year round and enjoy other surprises in recent years.
I took the pleasure walking around, taking pictures and having fun.
On the lake bike lane, two young ladies merrily rode forward against wind and cold.
Xianyinghu Park
By the name of Fairy Sakura Lake Park in English, Xianyinghu Park is a wonderful location to enjoy cherry blossoms. Though cherry blossoms were not in season, this park was also charming enough to attract visitors.
The late fall, trees by the little pond were painted red, green, yellow, orange, competing to shine.
Leaves from Chinese tallow trees fluttered down and covered the creek.
People in the park, by two, by three, enjoyed themselves. A maple tree, with all the ardent red leaves, kept the visitors company.
Lianchihu Park
This park is the biggest ecological park in the garden and a good location to watch lotuses. The last lotus flower was far gone with the season, but the whole pond remained enjoyable whatever.
The gingkoes beside Lianchi Lake didn’t have big crowns but could still blanket the ground under them.
At the end of the corridor, yellow leaves drooped down entertaining people. Sitting under the pavilion, who was so fortunate to have all this?
This cute dog might think I was on its turf evading its space, and kept staring at me angrily till I left.
Sequoias were the most conspicuous among the green.
Look down, look up, and look around, you’d have your eyes filled with amazing things, in the park, around the corner.

Paying a visit there during the amazing late fall, and just sitting there quietly, watching the cloud move, embracing the gentle wind, listening to the singing of birds, and embosoming life. What a joy to have such a tranquil place in the jungle of the city!
The best route recommended
Follow Yangcheng Lake Avenue and turn north to Zhanye Road, and then Shuize Road, pass the bridge and keep heading north. If you’d like to take pictures, don’t miss the temporary parking lot along Shuize Road. Share the pictures with your friends with Wechat, and keep on driving to next bridge.
Here, you will find a Giant Bicycle station where you can rent a bike and ride it around. On your right hand is Xianyinghu Park, and if drive along Yangcheng Ring Road, you’ll arrive Lianchi Lake. Starved? Find a nice restaurant by Lianchi Lake or Qianshuiwan Commercial Street on the south. Have a good time!
