With graduation approaching, college seniors are attending job fairs to prepare for the 'real' world. A job fair for college seniors went underway Monday in Nanjing international exposition center, raising the curtain for the job quest season across the province.

45000 job vacancies were offered at the job fair that attracted more than 50000 college seniors who will enter the job market upon their graduation next summer.

Jiangsu, Shanghai, Zhejiang, Beijing and Guangdong are among the places that have the greatest demand for college graduates.

The Yangtze River city clusters are the primary destination of employment for the college seniors with huge demand for IT, machinery, energy and power, chemical and pharmaceutical graduates.

Latest data shows that 562,000 college seniors will graduate next summer, a gain of 6000 over 2017.

Computer and IT, accounting, electric engineering and automation, civil engineering and English are among the five undergraduate degrees programs that have the largest number of graduates next summer. The largest number of postgraduates comes from engineering, clinical medicine, mechanic engineering, material science and engineering and biology.

The finance sector, which used to be the largest employer, is expected to record a drop of 5.4 percentage points in the number of the college graduates that it will recruit next summer.

Jiangsu will launch 581 job fairs for college seniors by the end of June next year. 31000 employers have released online 1.33 million job vacancies, up 33.7% from a year ago.

In the meantime, more college seniors will be recruited for employment at the grassroots communities in northwest China region and northern Jiangsu regions with the guarantee of preferential policies when they apply for postgraduate studies and civil servant recruitment.

Research institutions are encouraged to recruit more college seniors while the army is looking for more college graduates to join the rank and file. The country will also increase the quota for the admission of postgraduate students. All these efforts will turn out to be good news for the college seniors to land themselves a desired job upon their graduation next summer.
