East China’s Jiangsu province has stepped up its efforts for the promotion of the international cooperation and exchange with the countries participating in the Belt and Road initiative in a bid to help Jiangsu-based enterprises seek greater international presence.
Zhu Zhonghui, founder of the Dieshiqiao International Home Textile Mart in Haimen County, is among the first Jiangsu businesspersons to start up business endeavors in Africa.
By teaming up with some overseas Chinese who trace their ancestral roots in Nantong, Zhu kicked off the construction of the China Trade Mart in Johannesburg, the largest city in South Africa.
By cashing on the opportunities brought about by the Belt and Road initiative, they have exported the construction, development and management experiences of the Dieshiqiao International Home Textile Mart to Johannesburg. Through years of efforts, they have built residential apartments and warehousing centers around the China Trade Mart to pave the way for more and more Jiangsu natives to start money-making businesses by building factories and trade marts.
As the capital and technology were exported to Africa, Jiangsu merchants became the new impetus for the development of the economy in South Africa through the development of mining, energy investment, park construction and real estate.
In recent years, Jiangsu has supported local enterprises to increase overseas investment through mergers and acquisitions. By constantly improving comprehensive service system for the going global strategy, Jiangsu has also provided project consulting, legal aid, financing credit guarantee and personnel training so that more and more Jiangsu-based enterprises can gain the upper hand in the overseas market competitions.
Backed up by the preferential policies, an increasingly large number of Jiangsu-based enterprises have made inroads into the overseas markets under the impetus of the Belt and Road initiative through imports and exports, industrial chain transfer, engineering projects and cooperation in production capacity.
