The 2017 Beverly Round Lihu Lake International Half Marathon is to hit the road at the picturesque Jiangsu city of Wuxi on Nov 19.
The 2017 Beverly Round Lihu Lake International Half Marathon, an annual extravaganza for running enthusiasts, is to hit the road at the picturesque city of Wuxi, Jiangsu province, on Nov 19.
Boasting one of China's most beautiful races, the event will start at its traditional "headquarters" of Wuxi New Sports Center, trace a route through the Lihu Park, pass through Wuxi Grand Theatre, Changguangxi Wetland Park, Turtle Head Isle, and finally end at the city's prestigious Jiangnan University.
The reputed event and the enticing city once again attracted more than 10,000 people, including some 200 runners from the US, the UK, France, Germany, Australia, Japan and Malaysia.
They will be treated to a variety of benefits, such as a knapsack consisting of running necessities, a metro card for their transportation, and discounts at several designated restaurants.
Finishers will be awarded a unique medal, with five connected local fish representing the scenic spots along the route on the obverse, and ripples depicting an image of fish swimming enjoyably in the Lihu Lake on the reverse.
A total of 1,300 volunteers will take charge of carrying out the event smoothly, including 120 of them who will provide first-aid services. Moreover, 30 sets of mobile automated external defibrillators, 7 ambulances, and a medical helicopter will also convoy the participants' safe running.
The 2017 Beverly Round Lihu Lake International Half Marathon is co-organized by Chinese Athletic Association and Wuxi Binhu district authorities. It is aimed at promoting the general public's participation in sports.
The obverse side of finishers' medal depicts five fish of local species connected to represent the scenic spots along the route.
The reverse side of the medal is ripples indicating fish swimming enjoyably in the Lihu Lake.
