A humpback whale, which had been found two times on the beaches of Qidong city, Jiangsu province over the last two days, was found beached again in the city on Nov 15.
Although rescuers from the Jiangsu Provincial Ocean and Fishery Bureau made efforts to save its life, it finally died that afternoon.
The male whale, weighing about 2.8 tons, was estimated to be aged between three and five. One possible cause of death was an illness which damaged its ability to navigate.
