The Yangtze River Culture and Arts Festival kicked off Tuesday evening in Zhangjiagang city, Jiangsu province. The opening ceremony brought together a large number of features of the art forms along the Yangtze River, including children's dramas that have been given the titles of the Minor Plum Blossom Award and the 7th national excellent theatrical performance award. 21 short sketches and 35 dramas were staged, representing more than 20 opera genres such as the Chu Opera, the Han Opera, the Shaoxing Opera, the Shaanxi Opera, the Hebei Bangzi Opera and some others. During the period, the literary and artistic teams along the Yangtze River will also visit the local communities to serve the local people with cultural feasts. Since its launch 14 years ago, the Yangtze River Culture and Arts Festival has been held in Zhangjiagang City to integrate the local cultures of the 12 provinces and municipalities along the Yangtze River and grown into a highland for cultural inheritance and development in the Yangtze River valley.
