Jiangsu delegation to CPC National Congress holds plenum

  The Jiangsu delegation to the 19th CPC National Congress held its first plenum upon on Tuesday following its arrival in Beijing on Monday to get ready for the opening of the national congress. Li Qiang, secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, was elected director of the delegation. Wu Zhenglong and Huang Lixin, both deputy secretaries of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, were elected deputy directors.

  The delegates studied the important speech delivered by Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, at the Seventh Plenary Session of the 18th CPC Central Committee held in Beijing on Monday.

  A total of 71 delegates have been selected to represent Jiangsu, which is in line with the requirements of theCPC centralcommittee by embodying both the advanced nature and the wide representation of the representatives.

  The delegates include Party and government officials, frontline workers, women Party members and Party members representing the ethnic groups. The representatives from frontline workers constitute 11.1% while there are also 3 migrant workers in the delegation.

  The 19th CPC National Congress will review the Party's work over the past five years and summarize precious experiences that the Party has gained from the historical process of uniting and leading people of all ethnic groups to carry on and advance socialism with Chinese characteristics under the leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Xi at the core since the 18th CPC National Congress.

  It will thoroughly examine the current international and domestic situation, and take into account the new requirements for the development of the Party and the country as well as new expectations from the people.

  A new CPC Central Committee and a new Central Commission for Discipline Inspection will be elected at the congress.
